Translating

When I studied in Prague, I discovered my love for translating. In those days, I became aware of the fact that I was unable to share the joy of reading novels and stories with any of my friends – as almost none of them would understand Czech. The only solution was to do my own translations! So in the fall of 1994, I started with the first of my translations.

Presenting

Later on, I got the chance to read my translations during authors' readings and to present similar events, e. g. at "CzechPoint" (the Czech Cultural Centre in Berlin) and at the international book fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig.

Connecting

Thanks to my activities in the field of literature, I was able to build up a network of contacts to authors, publishers and agents. Thus the next logical step for me was to help works of Czech and Slovak literature enter the German-speaking market and thus make it possible for audiences in these countries to enjoy those texts.
