Capital city

Potsdam is the capital of the federal state of Brandenburg and borders the territory of Greater Berlin in the southwest. Its history and presence is closely connected to Berlin's development. This has never been a process free of conflicts, but in spite of all, Berlin and its surroundings somehow belong together as one.

World heritage

Potsdam is especially famous for its numerous palaces and parks which are situated in picturesque landscapes. Thanks to that, "Prussian Arcadia" has been designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Contrasting aspects

Potsdam also offers other interesting places such as the film studios in Babelsberg, a "German Hollywood", the scientific institutes and the Einstein Tower on Telegraph Hill and the former prison of the KGB near the New Garden, to name a few. There is much to explore!
