My first translations were Czech fairytales and short stories (translated into German), which were, in the tradition of Samizdat, published at Christmas 1994 in a small self-made booklet.
In 1995, this little book helped me to get my first order, a translation from Slovak: I was encouraged by a university professor, who liked this booklet, and this led to a decisive moment to choose to become a professional translator.
From the beginning of this endeavor and up until the present, I have been translating from Czech and Slovak to German. And I have a fondness for both languages.
I translate mostly literature, specifically fiction and poetry. I focus on texts from arts subjects, history, literary science, cultural science, sociology, ethnology and more.
In addition to printed translation, I also make texts available for authors' readings and for websites (e. g. the former German version of Czech Literature Portal administered by the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture).
